Mods please offer me an opportunity if this kind of topic is not in line with the rules. I am curious if any of you have made some trades that you defintiely ended up losing, but while ignoring hindsight you would stand behind your decision? For me, I traded away David Montgomery last November for Allgeier and a 27 3rd. I wasn't close to contender status and at best would be a one and done if I somehow limped into playoffs. A week earlier, I sold off ETN for a 26 2nd (became 2.09 Mike Washington=Jeanty Insurance) and a 27 1st. Since I sold ETN, selling Monty seemed logical since I beleived I was still another year out. As for Allgeier, I thought he could work well in a Gibbs/Monty tandem shoulder more work if needed. Obviously, that trade so far has aged about as bad it could have. The bigger oof for me is that I think I could've sold Monty for a 27 2nd this offseason if I just held onto him. However, I don't think my logic was awful as I had taken a shot on someone I had moderate belief in while potentially avoid holding too big of a bag. I think I learned that veteran sell windows may be bigger than one thinks, but also to make sure you get at least one piece that's more certain to be useful regardless of outcome. submitted by /u/Sonofagun57 [link] [comments]
