Jordyn Tyson High: Justin Jefferson Middle: Amari Cooper/Jerry Jeudy Low: Laquon Treadwell With sentiment growing that the NFL is comfortable with Tyson’s injury history and his stock is pushing WR1 in the class and a top 10 pick we can focus on Tyson as the prospect and what the tape/stats show when projecting his NFL future. Tyson had an incredible College Dominator percentage (46.8%), college target share (34.2%) and breakout age (18.1), and if you watch the highlight reel you would be inclined to think that Tyson is a surefire WR1. There are some serious pitfalls that top analysts like Matt Harmon and Daniel Jeremiah have recently outlined that make me a little more hesitant on Tyson as a top-end prospect and more of middle projection of Amari Cooper (high-end middle) or Jerry Jeudy (low-end middle). Tyson’s man success rate is pretty abysmal, and analysts have highlighted that he isn’t the most efficient route runner and could get locked up by elite NFL corners, and where he had success was on one cut routes where he was simply able to dominate college corners with his athleticism. If he can overcome this at the NFL level, he can be a Justin Jefferson type player who can not only win downfield but can be an absolute zone destroyer with elite body control. He also is quite poor in contested catch situations for his size and body control, which doesn’t bode well for him being an “alpha” in the JJ, Chase tier of WR. If he cannot, he will be dominated by NFL corners or struggle with NFL physicality if deployed on the outside and be the inconsistent WR2 we have seen in Jerry Jeudy. Deployment will be crucial for Tyson, if a team makes him a 60/70% slot and doesn’t stick him at the X he could be great. Carnell Tate High: Davante Adams Middle: Tee Higgins Low: Josh Reynolds The longtime WR1 may be pipped by a Jordan Tyson surge last minute, but Tate has firmly been a projected top 10 NFL pick throughout this cycle and it is pretty clear why. The latest in the a long line of maybe the most dominant position run from a single school the NFL has seen, Tate’s Ohio State breakout has been a little more delayed with a college dominator (32.2%), college target share (20.3%) and breakout age (20.6) not being elite but easily explained away with sharing the field with maybe the two best college WR prospects since Megatron. Tate has prototypical size although on a slightly smaller frame, but like Devonta Smith, this did not prohibit him from being an exceptional beater of press and man coverage (77.3% and 75% success rate). He does not have high-end speed (4.53 40 at the combine) but his technique and body control are second to none (see a 85.7% contested catch rate) and some incredible red zone work at Ohio State this past season. If Tate can bulk up and play faster in the NFL, while adding some short/intermediate timing routes to his game, I can see him easily being the kind of technician that can punish NFL corners that we have seen in Davante Adams, and if he merely is just a downfield contested catch/red-zone specialist then Tee Higgins is a fair comp and we can see Tate thrive as a top-end WR2. Makai Lemon High: Stronger JSN Medium: Golden Tate Low: Russell Gage Maybe the safest prospect in this year’s draft class at the WR position, Lemon combines exceptional tape 2024/2025 tape and measurables to project as a top tier slot option who also has the physical attributes to play outside. Much like one of my favorite players to watch in recent m…
