Hey everyone, If you head over the the Rankings Homepage you’ll find I’ve just released my first run of rankings for the FFPC Main Event (or the Big Gorilla). I’ve also posted the direct link below the pay wall in this post. I plan to have plenty of dedicated redraft posts to follow in the upcoming weeks so I’ll go into this in more detail, but I wanted to make a couple quick notes on ways in which my redraft rankings differ from my best ball or home league rankings: First, if you haven’t played on FFPC before it’s a 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 2FLEX, 1TE roster format. It’s also full PPR and 0.5-point TE Premium. The TE Premium is the largest differentiation between these and my eventual home league redraft rankings which I’ll release in early August. It’s also a tournament format with a 3-week sprint at the end of the year for qualifying teams so I’m emphasizing ceiling, and especially late-season ceiling more than I would in home league rankings. Second, I’m assuming most subscribers who play both formats will have far fewer redraft teams than best ball teams. Therefore, I’m ranking based off more of a what would I do if I only had one team? mindset than a portfolio mindset. As an example, in my best ball rankings I like a lot of the wide receivers going in Round 3/4 so I try to rank them with ADP in mind so that if you follow my rankings you’ll get plenty of each of the guys I’m above market on (please make sure to do some of this mixing and matching on your own of course). In my FFPC redraft rankings I’ve placed Jaylen Waddle much higher than several receiver I also like who have higher ADPs because if I was drafting only 1 team this year I’d want to make sure Jaylen Waddle is on it! If you do draft a larger portfolio in these tournaments I’d recommend aligning more to ADP than my rankings do in certain spots like that. This doesn’t mean I’m not aware of ADP. I definitely factor in ADP from an economy perspective, such as ranking running backs more aggressively early in drafts so I can avoid some of the running back prices I have little interest in on FFPC later on in drafts. Third, floor is more important in best ball than redraft, most of all when it comes to flex-level players or below. My redraft rankings — especially in the mid-late rounds — are optimize more toward upper tail outcomes than medians. Read more
