In this series I’ve looked at multiple mock drafts over the off-season, sprinkled in some actual draft results, and looked at ADP data too. At this point, we all kind of know, or at least have a pretty good general idea of where players are getting drafted. Even this year, with quite a bit of variance from draft to draft, we roughly know where everyone is going. In last week’s article I shared the results of a recent mock and was disgusted by who was being taken in round four, so I wanted to see what was hiding beneath that group. In this edition of the series, I wanted to dig into the players who aren’t getting drafted and look at what is happening following our rookie drafts. One of the first things I was looking at was DLF’s MFL rookie draft results . I wanted to see who is falling outside of the top 48 and top 60, as that is the cutoff for your typical four or five-round rookie draft. Once we get the names together, we’ll look at what the waiver wire looks like following the drafts. Quarterbacks Even combining single QB leagues with superflex leagues, eight quarterbacks are being drafted in the top 48. With a talent-poor class, I guess most people think it is worth it to throw a dart on Cole Payton and Garrett Nussmeier with their fourth-round pick. Haynes King is highlighted as he has only been selected in 12 drafts, so he shouldn’t even belong here. However, he’s arguably in one of the better spots in this “last three” group. Payton isn’t taking Jalen Hurts ’ job, nor is Nussmeier threatening Patrick Mahomes ’ job, but Bryce Young is not locked in as the Panthers’ long-term starter, so if King were to flash anything in camp and the Panthers’ season goes off the rails, they could potentially kick the tires on King since Kenny Pickett and Will Grier are not the answer either.
