I could say something obvious like "AI is changing the whole world and the fantasy football space is no different", but you already know that. I guess I already said it too. /r/fantasyfootball moderators have been discussing how to handle AI within our community. I think the AI-created content side of things is an easier line to draw, and we'll be rolling out a rules updaet later this offseason to address it. What's a bit trickier is the absolute deluge we see of AI-created fantasy tools. If you've scrolled r/fantasyfootball over the past few months you've seen what I mean. Posts about new tools to manage your roster, to break down stats, to choose draft order, and more. As traffic begins to increase in July and August, I expect the influx of new tools to also rise. And those who have already shared their tools will want to get them in front of the larger audience. A number of potential options have kicked around in my brain as well as the moderators' chats, and it seemed like a good topic for discussion with the broader community. Do nothing. Let them be posted and upvotes/downvotes will take care of them. Don't love this approach myself, as it becomes overwhelming and can take away from the value other posts provide. Even flairing the posts effectively falls under this outcome. Create an Index thread for Tools & Resources. This allows for promotion of tools which could have value, but keeps them off the main feed. Downside is our Index threads get less traffic, and there's a risk of the next Beersheets never gaining traction because nobody sees it, or established tools that the community already loves being less readily available. Ban all tools and resources posts altogether. Not really an option - the three things this community consistently does well is AMAs, breaking news, and some really strong tools for drafting especially. Implement some sort of application and review process. This feels like a strong option but it creates a bandwidth issue, and introduces subjectivity into the process. There are likely other solutions, too, and maybe you've seen something really good implemented elsewhere. We're interested in your input. I won't promise that the most upvoted comment is the implemented solution, but I can say that the discussion will be followed by mods. submitted by /u/My_Chat_Account [link] [comments]
