On KTC, Burden is currently a fair trade straight up for Chris Olave or Nico Collins. The narrative: "Burden was awesome the second half of last year. DJ Moore is gone now. Burden stocks to the damn moon!" Unfortunately, this is completely false. Let's break down Burden's "breakout" from week 10 through week 18. And see how much DJ Moore was in his way. Week 10: Burden: 3 catches on 3 targets for 51 yards. DJ Moore: 0 catches on 4 targets for 0 yards. Week 11: Burden: 3 catches on 5 targets for 27 yards Moore: 1 catch for 18 yards on 3 targets Week 12: Burden: 3 catches for 46 yards on 5 targets Moore: 5 catches for 64 yards on 7 targets Week 13 *At this point Rome Odunze gets hurt and misses the remainder of the season* Burden: 4 catches for 33 yards on 6 targets Moore: 2 catches for 17 yards on 5 targets Week 14 Burden: 4 catches for 67 yards on 6 targets Moore: 1 catch for negative 4 yards on 3 targets Week 15 *This is a 31-3 spanking of the putrid Browns* Burden: 6 catches for 84 yards on 7 targets Moore: 4 catches for 69 yards on 5 targets Burden misses week 16 with a minor injury. Week 17 8 catches for 138 yards on 9 targets Moore 1 catches for 7 yards on 4 targets Week 18 Burden: 3 catches for 35 yards on 4 targets Moore: 1 catches for 11 yards on 3 targets So let's break this down. This is an 8 game stretch. In 6 of those 8 games, DJ Moore had no more than 2 catches or 18 yards. In other words, Moore may as well already have been gone. He was likely playing through a significant injury and was putting up 3rd string TE receiving numbers. Meanwhile, Rome Odunze missed more than half of these games with an injury. So with Moore doing essentially nothing, and Odunze completely gone most of the time, the Burden breakout is glorious, right? Does it look that way to you? There are two games where he did anything notable. One is that 6 catch game at home against the lowly Browns, a game where even Moore's broken body put up 20 plus fantasy points. Then there's the awesome game in week 17. It's a great game. If one game is a breakout, then Burden broke out. It's still a game where Odunze didn't play and Moore did absolutely nothing. I think Burden should currently be viewed as a boom/bust WR3. Outside of those boom games, he's Jayden Reed or Rashid Shaheed. The occasional 25 point blow up game will come amid many more 4 for 33 and 3 for 27 type games. He's a good player, and he'll have good moments. But to say he's already matched the value of proven star WR1s.... that's one of the most bonkers overreactions I can ever remember in the dynasty community. submitted by /u/ajs723 [link] [comments]
