Full quote from the Fantasy Feast podcast, episode "Greg Cosell: 2026 AFC South Season Preview" "CJ Stroud the last couple of years has been up and down. Now, here's a thought that I had. Keep in mind his first year in the league — he was in a Kyle Shanahan type offense with Bobby Slowik. In that offense, the quarterback has nothing to do with calling protections. That's the Kyle Shanahan approach to offense. And that was the year, his rookie year, when Stroud looked incredibly comfortable. It just looked like, wow, this guy's going to be a great, great player. I remember a lot of quarterback rankings after his rookie year had him as a top-five quarterback in the league. And then, they got off to a slow start his second year, and they fired Slowik. And they made a fairly significant change in approach, which has now continued. And they went more with a New England Patriots style of offense. And in the New England style of offense, the quarterback is responsible for setting protections. And Stroud — that's a major, major adjustment for a quarterback. It adds to the mental part of playing the position. And I've met CJ Stroud, he's a very intelligent young man. But when you have to make that change, it's a process. And he'll get better and better at it. But I think it's slowed down just his whole processing. And I think there were times where I thought he was indecisive playing the position, and therefore was not as anticipatory as we saw him in his rookie season." It feels like most of the discussion around Stroud since his rookie year has been negative. And right now, the last thing on everyone's mind is the 4 INT game against the Pats in the playoffs. What do you make of this take? Are you completely out on Stroud or willing to have some more patience as he continues to develop? submitted by /u/mochajoesdynsaty [link] [comments]
