Underhill outlined his thoughts on the run game in a lengthy piece, exploring how run game coordinator T.J. Paganetti plans to build the run game around his players’ strengths. With RB Travis Etienne set to operate as the lead back, the team can use Kamara selectively in space, running routes, on screens and by exploiting matchups. Tre Tucker, WR — LV Tre Tucker tasked with stepping up as ‘playmaker’ for Raiders offense Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak said WR Tre Tucker has ‘got to be a playmaker for us,’ while discussing Tucker’s role as the wide receiver corps’ ‘quiet leader.’ Tucker is now the longest-tenured player in the Raiders’ wide receiver corps. Per Kubiak, Raiders receivers will line up all over the formation, as the X, Z and slot. Although TE Brock Bowers will operate as the clear-cut No. 1 pass catcher, Tucker could warrant FLEX treatment if he can secure the No. 2 pass-catcher role. Trey Benson, RB — ARI Trey Benson suffered setback during recovery from meniscus surgery last year Cardinals RB Trey Benson (knee) said he ‘kind of had a setback’ while recovering from in-season meniscus surgery last year. Benson said he was feeling good when his practice window opened and knew this was his ‘time to shine’ as the Cardinals’ lead running back. Unfortunately, he started ‘going a little too hard’ on the practice field and ended up triggering a setback. Marlin Klein, TE — HOU Marlin Klein sidelined with hamstring injury during organized team activities Texans TE Marlin Klein was sidelined this week after injuring his hamstring at organized team activities. Klein’s hamstring injury is not expected to be a long-term issue. George Kittle, TE — SF George Kittle progressing on track for Week 1 return after Achilles injury Kittle met with media and reported his Achilles is ‘doing great’ with no setbacks since last year’s tear. He indicated it’s realistic he could return eight months after the injury. The 32-year-old hasn’t been cleared for practice yet and worked off to the side during OTAs, but remains on track for Week 1 against the Rams. TreVeyon Henderson, RB — NE Patriots RB working to improve blocking and pass-catching abilities TreVeyon Henderson said he used New England’s voluntary offseason program to improve his blocking and receiving skills. Henderson was viewed as a potential passing game contributor as a rookie last year, but veteran Rhamondre Stevenson led the way on passing downs throughout the season. If Henderson has meaningfully improved pass protection and receiving, he could challenge Stevenson for the pass-down role in training camp.
