We’re very aware that free agency and trades can make or break a player’s dynasty value. More often than not, new situations can lead to downgrades, as we overhype their value to the new teams and don’t take into account the change of scheme, coaching staff, and relationships. There’s significant value in each of these things, and while it can be true that players leaving teams don’t always take the next leap, sometimes it can have the desired effect. Just look at a few examples from the last few years. Sam Darnold went from league-wide laughing stock to Super Bowl champion on the Seahawks. Davante Adams led the league in touchdowns with the Rams after disappointing tenures with the Raiders and Jets. And going back a few years, Saquon Barkley took a giant (get it) leap after finally finding a good offensive line to run behind. So how can we decide who to target? Let’s take a look at some of the top movers this off-season to see those who I believe could make the leap and dominate in 2026 and beyond. AJ Brown , WR NE DLF consensus ranking: WR30 June 2026 Startup ADP: WR19 Before I get onto anything else - wow, that difference in valuation from DLF to consensus is notable. ADP has him going at 34 overall in the back of the third round in startups, whereas our experts would have him ranked all the way down in the sixth round. Brown has been the biggest trade of the off-season for fantasy (ignoring IDP leagues and Myles Garrett ). We’ve known for months that he was going to land with the Patriots, but we had to wait for the start of the new league year for the trade to actually take effect, with the Patriots paying a 2028 first-round pick for Brown’s services. This was a beneficial trade for both sides, with the Eagles getting value for an aging player and the Patriots landing a WR1 for their young quarterback. The Patriots receiver core last year was laughable, despite landing them in the Super Bowl. Headlined by Stefon Diggs , their next three leaders in target share were Mack Hollins , Kayshon Boutte and DeMario Douglas. All of them are acceptable role players, but there’s nothing more than average between them. Brown changes the room in a dominant way. For a receiver who thrives on the boundary, pairing him with Drake Maye should lead to dominance for fantasy. In terms of Brown himself, in 2026 he was top ten among WRs in receiving yards vs press coverage; yards vs man coverage; and receiving yards over expectation. In terms of where he’s going, Drake Maye led the league in air yards per attempt, was fourth in deep ball attempts, and had the fourth-highest deep ball completion percentage in the NFL last year. He’s a vastly better passer than Jalen Hurts , but especially where it counts for Brown. With 125 vacated targets from Stefon Diggs and an empty depth chart, Brown could easily be on course to lead the league in targets in 2026 from maybe the most exciting young quarterback. Yes, he’s getting up there, but in my book that should put him way closer to his startup ADP of WR19 than his DLF ranking of WR30. If he finishes at WR30 in 2026, I’ll eat someone’s hat.
