Following up on yesterday’s post, today we are releasing our Running Backs 5-8 as well as our Wide Receivers 6-10. These prospects are a lot more fun to discuss and will all likely offer some fantasy relevance during the course of their professional careers. Running Backs Jadarian Price is really going to test our model this year. His pre-draft score lands squarely in our “bust” range despite his projection to be the 2nd running back off the board (likely early on day 2). We’ve never seen a 2nd round pick with a lower pre-draft score, but 3rd rounders in a similar range were Marshawn Lloyd, Kendre Miller, and Devin Singletary - none of which inspire confidence. Price will be fun to compare to Kaytron Allen down the road, who has the strongest analytical profile of this group, but will not have comparable draft capital. RB 5 - Kaytron Allen Pre-Draft Score: 39.0 Projected Prospect Score: 23.7 (5th Rd) While Kaytron is likely going to be a day 3 pick in the NFL draft, he has a very high pre-draft score which cannot be ignored. Although he may struggle to carve out a role in the NFL due to his draft capital, he has the strongest analytical profile of this group by a good margin. RB 6 - Emmett Johnson Pre-Draft Score: 27.0 Projected Prospect Score: 29.8 (4th Rd) Emmett Johnson has ceiling issues. Prospects with similar pre-draft and prospect scores have hardly ever finished with RB1 or RB2 seasons. I thought he looked pretty good on tape, but the lack of combine results and lower draft capital are painting a picture of a low impact career. RB 7 - Jadarian Price Pre-Draft Score: 16.4 Projected Prospect Score: 37.8 (2nd Rd) I know a lot of people really like Price, but the lack of passing game work is a huge red flag. There are simply not many running backs in the NFL that consistently produce good fantasy numbers without being at least adequate pass catchers. He is definitely a talented runner, but he’s a bit pricey for me right now. RB 13 (was 8) - Seth McGowan Pre-Draft Score: 18.6 Projected Prospect Score: 15.7 (6-7th Rd) McGowan unfortunately is going to drop all the way to RB13 for us after cleaning up his dataset. I really liked the psychopath energy that McGowan harnesses; he runs like he will never play again. I would not be surprised to see him outperform his draft selection, but there are definitely some red flags with his profile. Wide Receivers This group of receivers is a lot better when compared to the 11-15 group, and are likely to be solid fantasy contributors. 17.4% of past receiver prospects have put up at least one WR1 season, 34.8% have put up at least one WR2 season and 47.8% have put up at least one WR3 season. WR 6 - Omar Cooper Jr. Pre-Draft Score: 39.6 Projected Prospect Score: 49.4 (Late 1st Rd) Cooper Jr. may be a bitttt overhyped right now, but he’s still a really good prospect. His potential is very high, and if he gets into the right system with the right coaching I think he can become the centerpiece of an NFL passing attack. WR 7 - Denzel Boston Pre-Draft Score: 40.2 Projected Prospect Score: 42.6 (Late 1st Rd) Boston would fall in this range in most classes the past couple of years. He is definitely talented but his ceiling might be a bit limited due to his athleticism. He wasn’t dominant enough on the field to completely skip all pre-draft testing which is a bit of a red flag to me. WR 8 - Antonio Williams Pre-Draft Score: 34.9 Projected Prospect Score: 39.6 (3rd Rd) There is definitely some unrealized pote…
