Welcome back to the DLF Mailbag, the preeminent mailbag in all the dynasty fantasy football land. We’ve now entered July, which means the official start of training camp is only a few weeks away. While still not the same as live game action, this is going to provide the most current data regarding expectations for players in 2026. A highlight catch or big run here, or reports of drops and slow playbook learnings there, and suddenly values begin to fluctuate. It’s certainly true you don’t need to trade just for the sake of making trades. However, if you’re someone who tries to gain every “value advantage” when striking deals, these next few weeks present a golden opportunity to buy and sell players you feel strongly about before the training camp news sets in. Because while it may seem overblown, particularly with younger players or veterans nearing the end, this could be the best opportunity to buy low/sell high for the next few years. As a reminder, there are multiple ways to pose your burning questions! You can send me a tweet on Twitter/X ( @EDH_27 ), and you can also reach out using our Discord channel, or the old-fashioned way ( via our online webform ). Let’s get to it! From Discord… Kick the Pick? Which side do you prefer for a contending team in a 12-team, PPR, superflex, TE-premium league – 2026 pick 1.06 and a 2027 second-round pick, or what will likely be a late 2027 first-round pick? This seems about right to me. The superflex and TE-premium format unlocks a couple of players in Fernando Mendoza and Kenyon Sadiq who can now be considered in the first six picks of your rookie draft, where previously there would’ve been a firm line of delineation behind Jeremiyah Love , Carnell Tate , Jordyn Tyson , Makai Lemon and to a lesser extent, KC Concepcion . Minimally we now know the latter will be available, and if a running back-hungry squad ahead of you sees something in Jadarian Price , it’s entirely possible that Tate, Tyson or Lemon could be there. Speaking from my own personal experience, this actually happened for me in the exact same type of format, and I was able to snag Lemon when that didn’t seem terribly likely. However, as shown in the MFL rookie data for this league setting (sans TE-premium inputs), this actually appears to have been more common over the past month. While acknowledging the low number of drafts, Price has actually vaulted above all non-Tate receivers. To be clear, I anticipate there must be some quirks to the other league settings, but the data doesn’t appear to be deceiving. An honest assessment asserts you should have a good shot at a strong receiver if you make the deal. Of course, this begs the question – do you believe the 2026 class is on par with the players in 2027? The prevailing wisdom is 2026 represents something of a down year, but at the end of the day 32 players had to go in the NFL Draft’s first round, and then subsequently 12 must be picked in the first round of your rookie draft. Context is important, and these players exist in a vacuum. So you must determine for yourself if you’d be getting a true, quality player with tangible fantasy upside, or are you taking the best of what’s available? Shown above, as per our DLF Devy Rankings, are the perceived top players in the 2027 class. The usual caveats apply – we know player values will fluctuate, and we also don’t know who will even be available next year. But this could broadly be the grouping you’re looking at. There’s always something o…
