Welcome back to the DLF Mailbag, the preeminent mailbag in all the dynasty fantasy football land. We’re officially in “Rose Season.” Yes rose, as in the color of the glasses everyone seems to be wearing! To that point and in case you missed it, everyone is gelling with new teammates, coaches and schemes; every injured player is ahead of pace in getting healthy; and formerly mid-level or less relevant players are ready to break out. Well, except for Bills receiver DJ Moore , who in a moment of honesty said that he’s been struggling somewhat in learning the team’s offensive scheme. This shouldn’t be surprising – off-season workouts have really only just begun, and creating chemistry takes time. It’s only June, and with games not until September, there’s plenty of time for Moore to gain familiarity with the totality of his new surroundings. Still, there might be a lesson in here. And to me, it’s that it’s okay to admit that everything may not in fact be awesome! The more honest we are with the states of our teams, the better prepared we are for making future moves. In this vein, let’s hope there are more like Moore out there among us. As a reminder, there are multiple ways to pose your burning questions! You can send me a tweet on Twitter/X ( @EDH_27 ), and you can also reach out using our Discord channel, or the old-fashioned way ( via our online webform ). Let’s get to it! From Discord… The Need to Reed Which side do you prefer for a contending team in a 12-team, PPR, superflex league – Bucky Irving , Jayden Reed and a 2027 second-round pick, or Emeka Egbuka , Tony Pollard and a 2027 third-round pick? I don’t see anything inherently objectionable about these DLF Trade Analyzer outputs. And all told, given the players involved in the deal, I’m not surprised that the differential was well within the realm of reason. In any event, let’s dig a bit deeper. To me, the most interesting player in the deal is Reed. As shown below, despite above-average numbers including nearly 20% of his weekly finishes culminating in PPR WR1 output in 2023 and 2024 contests, he’s never truly broken out. And while there’s always an argument that great players will transcend environment, the fact is the Packers established a “spread the wealth” paradigm amongst their pass catchers by design. Given the fact they’ve averaged 9.7 wins over the past three years, an optimist could assert the plan was working. As for Reed’s 2025 campaign? I’m just going to write that one all the way off. After scoring 14.5 PPR points in the first week of the year, he was injured in the second game, and then didn’t take the field again until December. But even with this, as shown below there was clearly a concerted effort to get him the ball when he was out there, as Reed only trailed Christian Watson in terms of target rate. Statistics courtesy of 4for4.com . I view these as important statistics, but also recognize that we’re playing the “what if?” game here. However, that’s life in the stock market that is dynasty fantasy football. We take the predicate results available and combine them with the new information as we receive it. This brings us to the below. Depth chart courtesy of 4for4.com Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re well aware that Green Bay’s formerly nebulous depth chart has been consolidated in a major way. Gone are Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks , and there was nary a pick spent on a pass catcher. This now sets up both Reed and Watson, as well as second-yea…
