We all know the pain of holding onto a stud player too long as their production evaporates, and your once highly-priced asset becomes worthless. There are also plenty of cases in which players are sold with an expected decline, only to defy the odds. This series will examine what you should do as players approach these decision points. Zay Flowers , WR BAL Flowers has spent three seasons doing the unglamorous work of dynasty production, racking up targets, yards, and receptions while his price tag stayed stubbornly mid-tier. Now he heads into year four with a completely overhauled coaching staff in Baltimore, a fifth-year option already exercised, and a Ravens offense trying to find its identity after the most disruptive off-season of the Lamar Jackson era. Is this the year Flowers finally outproduces his cost, or is the uncertainty around him reason enough to look elsewhere? Previous Performance Flowers came into the league as a first-round pick out of Boston College, the 22nd overall selection in the 2023 draft, and the Ravens turned him loose immediately. His rookie season produced 77 catches and a shade under 900 receiving yards, with six total touchdowns mixed in across his work as a receiver and a runner. The efficiency wasn’t always pretty; John Harbaugh’s Ravens were never going to be a high-volume passing operation, but Flowers’ role and the talent were obvious from week one. Year two saw Flowers take a clear step forward. He set a new career high with 1,059 yards on 74 catches across 17 games, earning his first Pro Bowl selection in the process. The season didn’t end cleanly, though, as a knee injury ended his season during the Ravens’ playoff run. 2025 was Flowers’ best season yet by almost every measure. He set new career highs with 86 receptions and 1,211 yards on 118 targets, good for a 28% target share that ranked fifth among all wide receivers, and a 35% air yards share that ranked 11th. His yards per route run trailed only Puka Nacua and Jaxon Smith-Njigba among receivers league-wide. He caught four or more passes in 13 of his 17 games, about as consistent a weekly floor as you’ll find at the position. The one thing missing was touchdowns. Flowers managed just five receiving scores across the regular season, and four of those came in a five-TD binge over his final four games, including a multi-touchdown, 138-yard outburst in week 18. It earned him a second straight Pro Bowl nod and a WR7 finish in PPR formats. Situation and Usage So long the example of consistency, the Ravens have undertaken a drastic shift across the entire franchise this off-season with a new head coach and offensive coordinator in the fold. Jesse Minter is a defensive guru and will hand over offensive responsibility to Declan Doyle, a 30-year-old coach who has never called plays in the league. However, this could be a major upgrade for this entire offense. The resume of the 30-year-old is impressive, having spent time under Sean Payton in New Orleans and Denver, and being part of Ben Johnson’s staff in Chicago last season. Doyle has talked about building an offense around explosive plays and has been vocal about believing there’s still a higher ceiling for Lamar Jackson. If that can happen, it would be a good thing for Flowers and this entire offense. The receiver room itself looks more favorable for Flowers than it has in years. He sits comfortably atop the depth chart after back-to -back Pro Bowl seasons, and DeAndre Hopkins ‘ one-year deal has ex…
