We all know the pain of holding onto a stud player too long as their production evaporates, and your once highly-priced asset becomes worthless. There are also plenty of cases in which players are sold with an expected decline, only to defy the odds. This series will examine what you should do as players approach these decision points. Jordan Love , QB GB Love burst onto the scene in 2023 with one of the most impressive quarterback first seasons in recent memory, only for back-to-back injury-affected years to bring his dynasty value crashing back down to earth. Now the question is whether those down years represent a genuine decline, or whether we have been watching a talented quarterback play through the kind of health issues that would drag anyone’s numbers down. Is this a buy-low opportunity on a player who has already shown his ceiling, or a warning sign we should heed? Previous Performance Love spent three years sitting behind Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, which made him one of the more difficult players to value during that period. There were flashes in limited action, but you were essentially buying a prospect and hoping the Packers moved on from Rodgers sooner rather than later. When that moment finally came in 2023, Love did not disappoint. He finished as the overall QB5, throwing for over 4,150 yards and 32 touchdowns against just 11 interceptions. He was accurate on deep throws, creative off-schedule, and added nearly 250 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. It was the kind of season that had dynasty managers paying a significant premium heading into 2024. That premium has not been rewarded since. An MCL injury in week five of 2024 robbed him of the mobility that makes him dangerous, and he played through it at obvious cost to his production. He finished as a mid-range QB2 at best. 2025 brought further health issues and more of the same. He played in 15 games but finished as the QB16, as he was clearly not healthy throughout. Situation and Usage Over the past few years, Green Bay has had a plethora of receivers, but there have been almost too many mouths to feed, with no clear hierarchy and no clear idea of who fits where. This off-season, that seems to have changed. Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks have left, which sounds negative, but now everyone has clear, distinct roles. Tucker Kraft emerged as an elite tight end, and he will likely function as the centerpiece of this passing game. Jayden Reed is one of the better slot receivers in the league, and when healthy, Christian Watson has been great, which is why he was just extended. You then add in second-year wideout Matthew Golden as the x-factor, and there is plenty to like about the offense before you add in Matt LaFleur scheming up plays. Green Bay remains a genuinely good situation for a quarterback. The Packers have continued investing in the receiving corps, and Love now has real weapons around him. Reed is one of the better slot receivers in the league. Kraft is a young, ascending tight end. Watson and Golden give him options on the outside. The offensive line is solid. Matt LaFleur’s scheme is quarterback-friendly, heavy on play-action and quick decisions, which plays to Love’s strengths. The rushing element is important and gets underappreciated. Love is a genuine athlete at the position, not just a scrambler. In 2023, those rushing contributions added almost three fantasy points per game on top of his passing production. That floor matters a lot in a week-to-…
