Devy Rankings Tiers: Wide Receiver

On to the third installment of my devy ranking tiers. We have hit on the quarterback and running back positions; now on to the wide receiver position. And boy, do I love this class! This receiver class has gotten enormous amounts of hype even before their draft cycle started, and for good reason. Not only does this class have some truly elite talent sitting at the top, but it is extremely deep. There is a very high chance we see six-eight receivers from the 2027 class alone make it into the first round of this upcoming NFL draft. But let’s not waste any more time and dive into the tiers! Tier 1 Notes To kick things off, Jeremiah Smith is the WR1 in this class and it isn’t particularly close. I won’t go super in depth since everyone has, but let’s just say he is a do-it-all type of receiver. Not many, if any, flaws to his game. And it is rare that a wide receiver even gets mentioned to be the #1 pick, let alone it not being a crazy idea. I fell in love with Dakorien Moore ’s tape. He does not get enough hype but should be talked about in a similar light as Smith. He is listed sub six-foot, but he plays much bigger. He is fantastic in contested-catch situations and electric with the ball in his hands. With his QB returning, I expect a monster year from him and the hype train to be full steam ahead. Now on to perhaps my favorite prospect to watch, Charlie Becker . I was skeptical going into his tape after hearing some of the buzz on him, but his film is as advertised. Becker can win at all levels of the field. He wins at the line of scrimmage while he also has the speed to win over the top. His route running is top-notch, and he wins consistently at the catch point. I fully expect him to continue to generate buzz and be in contention to be a top-ten pick in this upcoming draft. Tier 2 Notes I was a big fan of Nick Marsh going into last season but a lackluster season seems to have pushed him down some boards. For me, I still see an athletically gifted player with solid route running who can win one on one match-ups. While there are more mouths to feed at Indiana, the offense and QB play should be significantly better and put him in better situations. The Clemson receiver duo was a tough one for me. They are honestly interchangeable in ranking. Both guys are athletic and electric with the ball in their hands. They can both get over the top of defenses. I think I slightly prefer the size of TJ Moore but again, both are studs and fully capable of being first-round picks next year. The tenth player on my rankings is the first non-2027 prospect on my list, and it is a good one. Chris Henry Jr is the overwhelming consensus #1 receiver in the 2029 class and son of former WR Chris Henry. He brings excellent size and incredible length. He already looks solid in his route running and has the speed to win downfield. Going to the wide receiver factory that is Ohio St is just icing on the cake. Tier 3 Notes This group represents players with tremendous upside. There are some freak athletes who, if they put it all together this year, could fly up boards. KJ Duff is a big receiver listed at 6’6” and 225 lbs but moves extremely well for a player his size. He is incredibly athletic and dominant at the catch point. He may need to work on expanding his route tree a bit but he has the size, the speed, and the hands to be a top-end receiver at the next level.
