It’s Independence Day in America and I sincerely hope anyone celebrating this joyous occasion has a safe and happy day full of Joey Chestnut hot dog eating, Summer barbecues, fireworks (in a non- Jason Pierre-Paul fashion) or anything else you may find fun and relaxing. As always, my mind never really leaves the world of fantasy football. With Independence Day in the fold, I thought it would be fun to again take a look at ten players I’m looking to declare my own independence from this off-season. In other words, these are ten players who I believe have a higher trade value or ADP right now than they will at the end of the season, thus opening a window to move them before it’s too late. Again, these are not players I don’t like. In fact, most of them are going to be high producers this season. My only thought is we may be seeing a high point in their value at the moment and should consider evaluating what we could get via trade. They are ranked based on grilled meats – steak, chicken, hamburger and gardenburger. The steak group are players I want to get rid of the quickest (the cream of the crop). The gardenburger (lowest level) are players I’d still like to rid myself of but don’t have quite as high a priority to move. STEAK TIER The steak tier consists of three players I believe have the highest chance to see their ADP fall dramatically from this year to next. These would be the players I’d consider cashing out on the most at the moment. Rashee Rice (ADP 27) Have we not already seen a pattern of behavior here? Rice is a dynamic player who can put up a monster game any given week. However, the off-the-field problems we’ve seen over the past few years are a huge red flag for me. Another couple of mistakes from Rice could see him suspended for a long time or even on a road heading out of the league. While he could have certainly learned from the past and be on a more straight and narrow path, his ADP is just way too rich for my blood, especially when you can get players like Emeka Egbuka , DeVonta Smith or Jordyn Tyson in this range. Rhamondre Stevenson , RB NE (ADP 96) I’ll give it to Stevenson – the guy has nine lives. I really felt like last year was finally going to be the year where his fumbling gave way to his job being taken by Treveyon Henderson. That didn’t quite happen but we can all see the talent Henderson has as well. I just personally don’t see Stevenson being a top-100 player at this time next year as there are simply too many factors working against him. George Pickens , WR DAL (ADP 23) We’ll see how this plays out this season but Pickens isn’t happy at the moment. In fact, it seems he’s rarely happy. We saw an amazing season from him as he posted 93 catches for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns. Still, I just don’t trust him. There are still rumors he could get traded and a long-term relationship with Dallas seems out of the question. When and if he leaves the Cowboys, his production could decline dramatically. While a great player to have when he’s healthy and engaged, I just have a hard time believing he’s a great late second round pick in a startup draft or worth the capital equitable to that. CHICKEN TIER The chicken tier features another receiver with some baggage and two running backs I’m anxious about. Brandon Aiyuk , WR SF (ADP 144) What’s going to actually happen here? It seems he’s played his last down in San Francisco and desperately wants to play in Washington. That could all come to fruition but I clearly hav…
