The NFL Draft is behind us, rookie drafts are taking place, and as dynasty managers we are looking ahead to the upcoming season. In our Dynasty Rookie Post-Draft Update series, we break down all the incoming fantasy-relevant rookies, looking at their profiles and where they fit. The basis of the rookie profile involves the usage of STORM analysis, focusing on five key components: Situation, Talent, Opportunity, Risk, and Market. Situation Name: Jordyn Tyson Position: Wide Receiver Pro Team: New Orleans Saints College Team: Arizona State (transfer from Colorado) Draft Status: Round 1; Pick 8 Tyson grew up in Frisco, Texas, where he starred at Allen High School as a three-sport athlete, racking up 80 catches for 1,512 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior while also playing basketball and running track. He was a three-star recruit who committed to Colorado, and in nine games as a true freshman in 2022, he immediately flashed, posting 22 receptions for 470 yards and four touchdowns, becoming the first freshman in program history to score a receiving touchdown in a season opener. His season ended early with a torn ACL, MCL, and PCL in November. He transferred to Arizona State to recover, and the 2023 season was effectively a redshirt year as he managed just three games without seeing a target while getting back to health. The 2024 breakout was worth the wait. Under the tutelage of receivers coach and former Steelers star Hines Ward, Tyson caught 75 passes for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns across 12 starts, earning Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year honors and his first of two straight All-Big 12 First Team selections. In his final eight games of the season, he led the country in receiving yards and touchdowns before a broken collarbone ended his year in the regular-season finale. He came back in 2025 and produced again in nine games before injury interrupted once more, finishing with 61 receptions for 711 yards and eight touchdowns. His 1,812 receiving yards across the two Arizona State seasons rank fourth among all Power Four receivers over that span. The pre-draft buzz was significant. He was the consensus WR1 in the class, with Mel Kiper Jr ranking him seventh on his overall big board. He went eighth to the New Orleans Saints, becoming the highest Arizona State player drafted since Hall of Famer Mike Haynes went fifth in 1976. His brother, Jaylon, was playing in an NBA playoff game for the Cleveland Cavaliers the night Jordyn was drafted, making them the first siblings drafted in the first round of two different sports.
