The NFL Draft is behind us, rookie drafts are taking place, and as dynasty managers, we are looking ahead to the upcoming season. In our Dynasty Rookie Post-Draft Update series, we break down all the incoming fantasy-relevant rookies, looking at their profiles and where they fit. The basis of the rookie profile involves the usage of STORM analysis, focusing on five key components: Situation, Talent, Opportunity, Risk, and Market. Situation Name: Garrett Nussmeier Position: Quarterback Pro Team: Kansas City Chiefs College Team: LSU Draft Status: Round Seven; Pick 249 Nussmeier looked like being in contention for the first overall pick after his 2024 season at LSU. After spending three seasons as a backup, he broke out in the 2023 ReliaQuest Bowl, then took the full-time job when Jayden Daniels headed to the NFL. In his first year as a starter, he delivered the best first-year starting campaign in LSU history with 4052 yards and 29 touchdowns. It seemed that the sky was the limit for Nussmeier and he was consistently mocked as a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, presuming he could continue his developmental journey, seen as a Heisman favorite for the 2025 season. Unfortunately, an abdominal injury severely limited his season, not only limiting him to nine games, but also hampering his mobility and throwing mechanics. That meant his draft stock cratered, even if the initial issue was a misdiagnosis from LSU’s medical staff. Initially seen as a top ten pick, Nussmeier ultimately ended up going in the seventh round, despite showing out at the Senior Bowl. So is there a chance he could still produce at NFL level?
