The NFL Draft is behind us, rookie drafts are taking place, and as dynasty managers we are looking ahead to the upcoming season. In our Dynasty Rookie Post-Draft Update series, we break down all the incoming fantasy-relevant rookies, looking at their profiles and where they fit. The basis of the rookie profile involves the usage of STORM analysis, focusing on five key components: Situation, Talent, Opportunity, Risk, and Market. Situation Name: Eli Heidenreich Position: Running Back Pro Team: Pittsburgh Steelers College Team: Navy Draft Status: Round 7; Pick 14 Heidenreich grew up outside of Pittsburgh in a family with several veterans of the United States Navy. He was a Swiss Army Knife at Mt. Lebanon High School, playing safety, wide receiver, quarterback and running back for the varsity team from his sophomore season on. As a senior, he led Mt. Lebanon to a perfect season and a 2021 Class 6A state championship. He caught 54 passes for 1,330 yards and 20 touchdowns, adding another 647 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. He earned Player of the Year honors and first-team all-state honors for that season. He was a no-star recruit, but accepted a scholarship from the United States Naval Academy. At the Academy, Heidenreich set program records in career receiving yards (1,994), single-season receiving yards (941), and single-game receiving yards (243). He split his snaps all over the field, lining up primarily in the backfield and out wide. His senior season was his best season, catching 51 passes for 941 yards (18.45 YPR) and six touchdowns. On the ground he added 77 carries for 499 yards and three touchdowns. He declared for the NFL Draft, which was taking place in his hometown of Pittsburgh. As day three wore on, he started to receive UDFA offers from teams, before his hometown Steelers finally selected him as the 230th overall pick. He was the 11th running back off the board.
