The NFL Draft is behind us, rookie drafts are taking place, and as dynasty managers we are looking ahead to the upcoming season. In our Dynasty Rookie Draft Post-Draft Update series, we break down all the incoming fantasy-relevant rookies, looking at their profiles and where they fit. The basis of the rookie profile involves the usage of STORM analysis, focusing on five key components: Situation, Talent, Opportunity, Risk, and Market. Situation Name: Carson Beck Position: Quarterback Pro Team: Arizona Cardinals College Team: Miami via Georgia Draft Status: Round 3, 65 overall Given the transient nature of college football, the game’s stars are often the head coaches who lead programs for a decade or more. Occasionally, a player breaks through to become a household name. Many football fans are familiar with Carson Beck, even if they are only a casual when it comes to the college game. Spending six years on campus helps, but Beck also led two different teams on playoff runs and was once considered a first-round candidate at the position. The NFL has started to really value experience at the quarterback position, and Beck has started 43 games in the past three seasons alone. The seasoning may have led the Cardinals to select Beck at the top of round three, a round or so before most expected him to go.
