The NFL Draft is behind us, rookie drafts are taking place, and as dynasty managers we are looking ahead to the upcoming season. In our Dynasty Rookie Draft Post-Draft Update series, we break down all the incoming fantasy-relevant rookies, looking at their profiles and where they fit. The basis of the rookie profile involves the usage of STORM analysis, focusing on five key components: Situation, Talent, Opportunity, Risk, and Market. Situation Name: Caleb Douglas Position: Wide Receiver Pro Team: Miami Dolphins College Team: Texas Tech via Florida Draft Status: Round 3, Pick 75 We knew the Miami Dolphins were going to add to their receiver room during April’s draft. After moving Jaylen Waddle to the Broncos in March, the team’s most accomplished receivers were Jalen Tolbert , Tutu Atwell , and Malik Washington . Even in the midst of a full roster teardown, the trio simply would not do. The surprise was the man they took. Texas Tech’s Caleb Douglas – long considered a day three receiver – was their pick at 75. The Dolphins obviously saw traits they thought they could develop, but this was definitely one of the bigger reaches of April’s draft by most measures. Douglas’ final ranking on the Consensus Board was 219th , and he went over 100 picks earlier at 75th. This draft capital ensures he will get an opportunity with Miami. The investment alone gives him a bit of fantasy value, and this may still be the league’s worst wide receiver room. Douglas has a pathway to early targets.
